What does “Drop the Rock” mean?
The rock is the sin that we carry weighing down our heart. The only way to truly get rid of it is to lay it down at Jesus Christ’s feet and let Him take it away. If you’re thinking that there’s no way that you could be forgiven for what you’ve done, let’s look at what Paul says in 1 Timothy 1:15-17:
“15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
When Paul says that he is the worst sinner, he’s referring to the fact that he used to hunt down and kill Christians, God’s people. But God still showed mercy to Paul and forgave him. Odds are you haven’t specifically targeted and killed Christians, but even if you have. There’s still time to repent and receive God’s mercy.
And to my fellow believers, we tend to hold on to our sinful behavior, and it is holding us back from fully experiencing and enjoying what God has in store for us.
