Old Legends

(Thought I had posted this)

I wondered "What if the 'Final Battle' was a draw? What if Ganondorf was not killed but just pushed back? And for the next few decades, Link wanders the country side and woods (with the Master Sword) and has become a myth in his own time; Zelda is made Queen of Hyrule and faithfully defends Hyrule's boarders maintaining a highly trained and ready army; and Ganondorf slowly builds his army of Gerudo and menacing creatures, being patient in his decade long chess game with Queen Zelda."

I have a few other ideas:
-Link has slowly loses the Triforce of Courage. He's still courageous, but after years of slowly withdrawing from the world, he becomes less of "the hero"
-Link's little sister, Aryll, is also in this story and has a family
-Aryll has a grand-daughter, Linkle, who grows up hearing stories about her Great-Uncle Link from from her Grandmother.
-Aryll and Linkle are the only ones who believe that Link is still out there somewhere, even Zelda is not sure if Link is still alive.
-As war is about to break, Linkle, now old enough, sets out to find her Uncle
-Link and Linkle work together to reclaim the Triforce of Courage, join Queen Zelda and defeat Ganondorf finally (for this time around)
-Game play: you start the game playing as Link in the "Final Battle" that ends up being a draw. After a few cutscenes you see time pass and transition over to Linkle. Then, you play as Linkle to find Link. After meeting Link, in single player, you can swap between Link and Linkle for different abilities, and in since there are two main playable character you can have 2-player co-op (probably drop-in/out).

If I get enough interest from people, I'll develop the idea more.
